The best road is never the fastest route.
TwistyDrives scores every road on earth by how much of it you spend actually turning, so you can find the ones worth the detour.
For iPhone, Android and the web. One account, everywhere.
Every road, scored on its corners
Navigation apps optimise for time, which is why they send you down the motorway. We do the opposite.
TwistyDrives measures the radius of every curve along a road, weights the tight ones more heavily than the sweepers, and adds up how much of that road is genuinely cornering. The result is a single number between 0 and 100. A road you have never heard of, three hours from home, can tell you whether it is worth the drive before you set off.
Roads are analysed from open map data and refreshed every month, anywhere in the world. Junctions and roundabouts are filtered out, so suburban zigzags never masquerade as a mountain pass.
What you will be able to do
Find the good roads
Open the map and see the best driving near you, ranked. Or search anywhere on earth and have its roads analysed on the spot, which is how you plan a holiday in Tuscany from the kitchen table.
Know what you are in for
Surface and whether it is sealed, speed limits section by section, the elevation profile, the weather for the next two days, and where the fuel and food are along the way.
Build the route, then hand it over
Drag waypoints into the loop you want, then send it to Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze for turn-by-turn. Our map stays on screen showing the corners ahead while your navigator does the talking.
Keep a log of every drive
Start a drive and put the phone down. Afterwards you get distance, moving time, average speeds and climb, filed against the car you drove it in. Private by default, always.
Bring other people
Create a group for your club or your friends, put an event on a road, invite the members nearby, and see who is coming. The part that currently lives in a messy group chat.
Be there for the first drive
We are building TwistyDrives now. Leave your email and we will tell you the moment there is something worth driving, along with the odd note on what we have found while building it.
No newsletter, no noise, and we will not pass your address to anyone.
